The Gospel of the Kingdom of God

To proclaim the kingdom of God is the command given to His disciples, which we are today. Luke 9:1-2, "Now He called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all the demons, and the power to heal diseases. And He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to perform healing."

Kingdom of God

Right at the start of His ministry, "Jesus was going about in all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom..." (Matthew 4:23) He was “…preaching the gospel of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”” (Mark 1:14-15)

Matthew 9:35 says, “Jesus was going through all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness.”

The kingdom of God is secured with “all authority” by the ultimate sacrifice to “redeem” that authority after Adam (the “first” Adam, 1 Cor. 15:45-47) lost it. Jesus, the Christ, was the second Adam (God in the flesh). The devil would not be able to steal it from this Adam!

Authority Of the Kingdom of God Redeemed

After His death and resurrection, He declared, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations…”. (Matthew 28:18-19} His authority over the earth and evil spirits is secure.

Authority

In the beginning (Genesis 1:26-28) God deemed (gave) authority over the earth to the first Adam (humanity). He gave authority to mankind over “every living thing that moves on the earth.” The first Adam lost it and the second Adam, Jesus, won it back as God in the flesh. Then, He “re-deemed” that authority to humanity again. He remained the King of kings, since He had purchased it with His own human body, blood and soul, as God in the flesh.

Re-deeming that authority to mankind is recorded in Luke 10:19-20, "Behold, I have given you authority to walk on snakes and scorpions, and authority over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you. Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven.”

Yes. We are those “kings and priests” over evil spirits, as Revelation 1:6 says. God has always chosen to work through humanity in a partnership. In order to secure authority over evil spirits and the earth, He had to become part of humanity. Since Jesus was the perfect “Son of Man” and Son of God who purchased back the rulership and our salvation, He was given “all authority in heaven AND on earth”.

Jesus Was Sent for This Purpose

Jesus told us what His purpose for coming to the earth was. “I must also preach the kingdom of God to the other cities, because I was sent for this purpose.” (Luke 4:43) This could not have been ratified without first buying it all back; without being the perfect sacrifice and Savior of mankind. The story did not end with saving humanity from our sins! The Kingdom of God on earth is the ultimate result.

Let’s drive this point home with more scriptures:

Kingdom Come

Jesus began going around from one city and village to another, proclaiming and preaching the kingdom of God.” Luke 8:1

Jesus told the Pharisees, “The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John came; since that time the gospel of the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is forcing (with authority) his way into it." (Luke 16:16) (My words in parentheses.)

And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14)

The “gospel” (good news) is not complete with the sacrifice of Christ to save us from our fallen nature. The completion of the good news is in how Jesus taught us to pray, “Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth…”

The ultimate good news that Jesus preached, and told us to teach, is that the kingdom of God is now established on and over the earth. That includes what Paul referred to as “the god of this world”. (2 Corinthians 4:4) Are you waiting for Christ to return and take over the world?

Take it By Force?

He already did! His kingdom has already been established on earth. He is waiting for us to preach that good news of the kingdom of God and “take it by force” of His authority, in His name. (Take it back from evil spirits.)

Matthew 11:12 “And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has been treated violently, and violent men take it by force.”

Violent Force

Do not make the mistake of thinking that this is talking about forcing mankind to accept the kingdom of God. This is about those who understand the authority given to mankind over evil spirits. It is talking about taking the dominion over earth back from evil spirits, with the authority mankind has been given through Jesus.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12)

Truth Anchors Freedom

It is evil spirits that have deceived all of mankind into all sorts of evil. When evil spirits are beaten back with the authority of Jesus, truth can be revealed. Mankind will be able to make their own choice when they know the truth. Truth is the anchor of freedom. It sets people free from bondage to an evil kingdom.

Taking back the kingdom of God from evil spirits is done in the spiritual realm by “preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God in all the earth” and making “disciples of all the nations”. We’ve got work to do! We must teach people about the kingdom of God. We will speak the power of truth with the authority given to us by Jesus all over the world and the truth will make us all free! (See the page entitled, the 7 Mountains of Influence.)

Seek First the Kingdom

On Earth

“This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come. “ (Matthew 24:14) The King of kings will take his place over all the earth.

Let’s decree with authority as Jesus instructed in Matthew 6:10, “Your Kingdom come!" "Your will be done!” Instead of being distracted with “the cares of this life” (Mark 4:19), let’s “seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you.” (Verse 33 of Matthew 6)

The Greatest Revival

We are at the beginning of the “greatest revival”. This will take generations to complete. We have an assignment! This revival will cover the earth with the glory of God. (Habakkuk 2:14) Then, Christ will return to His kingdom and God will make His abode with men.  (See the page: The Meek Shall Inherit the Earth.)

And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among the people, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:2-4)
